Our Mission:

Save the Orphans is excited to announce the first of this year’s Workshops on Computers, Robotics and Programming for orphans and at-risk children. Thanks to your support, the first group of children, ages 8-16, is receiving classroom training from Ion Gadarenco, a Save the Orphans volunteer. Ion was raised in the Moldovan orphanage system and has acquired these advanced skills through a series of scholarship programs.
The children are learning both basic and advanced robotics, programming and engineering skills. They also participate in competitions showcasing their newly acquired skills, and take field trips to businesses and organizations to witness first-hand how these skills are used in the real world. The workshop also allows the participants to network with professionals in the technology sector. Ion and his volunteer instructors will serve as mentors to the students beyond the workshops.
With your help, we will continue these workshops throughout the year, helping more orphans and at-risk children in Moldova develop skills that are essential in the 21st Century. In addition, these workshops also serve to create a new cadre of instructors who can replicate workshops in other parts of Moldova, creating new opportunities for orphans and at-risk children throughout the country.
Save the Orphans is committed to continuing and expanding these workshops to enable Moldovan orphans and at-risk children to break the cycle of poverty by expanding their knowledge and sense of self-worth.
We wanted to alert our most loyal partners to the dire situation occurring in Moldova this Winter. Russia formerly provided 100% of Moldova’s natural gas and energy. Due to the war, they have reduced the supplies by 50% and doubled the cost by 100%. This is all part of Russia’s strategy (campaign) to undermine Moldova’s western leaning president.
The foster families and transitional homes for orphans that you support through Save The Orphans are now struggling to obtain firewood for heat to replace the gas that they cannot find or afford.
Together, we can help these families get through the winter by providing life-saving firewood to heat their simple homes.
Any amount donated is appreciated, and will do so much to help these cold and hungry orphans and foster children in Moldova. Please support us to provide firewood and food staples during this crisis.
In April, our Local Director Diana Todica coordinated two projects for orphans and destitute families in the Chisinau area.
On April 15, Diana along with volunteers from the Oak House visited the orphans at Gymnasium Internet Number 3, the only orphanage in Chisinau. The volunteers put on skits, sang songs and played music and games with the 125 children at the school. The children received clothing and socks as well as cookies and sweets. They also received anti-trafficking flyers along with presentations on the dangers of human sex trafficking, and the importance of education and developing self-esteem.
The following week, Diana and volunteers delivered food bags to families that Save the Orphans sponsors in the Cricova area. The families they visited have a total of 28 children, many of whom are orphans. With the war in Ukraine, the cost of food for Moldovans has almost doubled, so these food bag distributions are more important than ever to these families.
We want to thank our generous donors who contributed to our special appeal to assist Ukrainian refugees in Moldova during February, March and April.
Together, we funded bedding, meals, personal items, diapers, and toys for the many hundreds of women and children being housed at Universitatea Divita Gratiae (UDG) in Chisinau and at several other locations.
Our volunteers provided three prepared meals per day, hot drinks, sweets, and clothing to refugee families housed in Cricova and donated items for distribution at the Refugee Center in Chisinau.
We also partnered with the Oak House Transitional Home to provide supplies for distribution to refugees at the Palanca Border Crossing, and staffing for refugee assistance provided there.
Thank you again for providing these refugees safety, stability, and hope.
Save the Orphans Team.
Save the Orphans continues its partnership with Pastor Vasile Surdu. His team continues to provide assistance to many doctors, in receiving medical supplies to combat COVID-19.
Moldova is the poorest country in all of Europe. The majority of its 3.5 million people are children and senior citizens.
We build confidence and self-esteem through our discussions emphasizing the message that these children are important and loved by God.
We educate and empower the orphans on how to break the cycle of alcoholism and violence that has dominated their past.
We educate the children on the threats of human trafficking and how to protect themselves.
Save the Orphans Moldova provides children with boots, shoes, school clothing, scarves, mittens, jackets, and hats each year.
Student volunteers work with our team to visit orphanages in the local Chisinau area and many distant villages. We celebrate with the children through skits, songs, games, and lessons.
Save the Orphans Moldova joins with Heart for Moldova and Love and Hope Moldova to hold up to 6 Summer camps for orphans during July and August.
Save the Orphans Moldova provides over 1000 students with school supplies which includes books, notebooks, pencils, markers, erasers, and colorful backpacks each year.
Save the Orphans Moldova maintains outreach programs in several distant villages providing food staples to widows and grandmothers raising from 4 to 11 social orphans in their homes despite severe poverty.
From its grassroots beginnings to the present, Save the Orphans Moldova has made its impact felt among Moldova’s orphans, social orphans and impoverished families. Clothing, food and necessities have been distributed twice annually to orphanages, and within villages throughout Moldova. Livestock and chickens have been distributed to families in need. Save the Orphans Moldova also sponsors programs to teach orphans about trafficking, self-awareness and the value of education. Through these programs, we have contributed to the well-being of thousands of young orphans.
Goes to the improvement of the lives of Moldova’s orphans. Our charity pays no salaries. Every dollar raised goes directly to the orphans and impoverished families.
Starting as a grassroots group of friends wanting to help in any way we could, we have become a charity dedicated to improving the lives of Moldova’s orphans.
Our programs reach children in orphanages, group and transitional homes, and social orphans in villages. Over 2,500 orphans have benefited from our programs, and the number expands every year.
The Save the Orphans Moldova team is a group of passionate people dedicated to addressing the needs and rights of orphans in Moldova.
